Privacy Policy – EasyUpscale

This is an English translation for convenience. If the Czech version differs, the Czech version prevails.

In short

EasyUpscale processes images only on your computer. The App does not send your images to the internet and contains no analytics, telemetry or crash reporting. It connects to the internet only to verify a license key (see below).

Controller

The controller of the personal data we obtain in connection with licenses and support is Daniel Mazura, Company ID (IČO) 19809735, Běchovická 612, 250 92 Šestajovice, Czech Republic, contact: info@easyupscale.cz. Payment and order data are processed by the Seller, Polar, as an independent controller (see below).

What the App stores (on your computer only)

  • Settings (language, selected mode, window size, last choices) in %APPDATA%\EasyUpscale\settings.json. The file stays on your computer and you can delete it at any time.
  • Results are saved only where you choose.
  • Error log in %APPDATA%\EasyUpscale\crash.log: a technical record of an unexpected error (time, Python version and call stack). It stays on your computer, is never sent anywhere, and you can delete it or send it to support.
  • License in %APPDATA%\EasyUpscale\license.json (or license.key for a signed key): the license key, activation identifier, customer name and the date of the last check. Removing the license in the App deletes the file.

What the App does not do

  • It does not upload images to servers or the cloud.
  • Without a license key it does not connect to the internet.
  • It does not collect usage statistics or send crash reports.

When the App connects to the internet

Only if you enter a license key sold through Polar. The App then sends the license key and your computer's name to api.polar.sh (on activation and then at each start, to check that the license has not been refunded or deactivated). The server returns the customer name from the order. No images are sent. Without a connection the license keeps working for 7 days after the last successful check. The server also sees your IP address when connecting.

Purposes, legal bases and retention

  • Selling and delivering the license (name, email, billing details, payment): processed by the Seller, Polar, as controller on the basis of the contract and legal obligations (tax, accounting). The Provider sees order data in the store dashboard to the extent needed for support and license records. Legal basis: performance of the contract and legitimate interest in protecting licenses.
  • License verification and activation (key, computer name, IP address): performance of the contract and legitimate interest in preventing key misuse.
  • Support (emails you send us): performance of the contract or legitimate interest in answering your question.

We keep data only as long as the purpose and the law require (payment records for the period set by tax and accounting rules, support emails usually no longer than 3 years after the last contact).

Recipients and transfers abroad

Recipients are Polar (sales, payments, license server), GitHub, Inc. (website hosting and installer download) and the email forwarding provider for info@easyupscale.cz. Some of them are based in the United States. Transfers rely on GDPR mechanisms (the EU–US Data Privacy Framework adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses). We do not sell data and do not use it for profiling or automated decision-making.

Microsoft Store

If you install the App from the Microsoft Store, Microsoft processes data about the download, installation and updates (for example your Microsoft account, device and region) as the operator of the store and as an independent controller, under its own privacy statement (https://privacy.microsoft.com). The license is not sold in the Store; it is bought on our website from Polar (see below). We receive no data about your download from Microsoft except aggregate statistics in the Partner Center and, where you contact us, what you tell us. The App itself behaves the same whichever way it was installed.

Website

easyupscale.cz uses no cookies. Apart from a visit counter (see below) it loads nothing from third parties until you click "Buy a license". Only then does the checkout page open on Polar's domain, which is subject to Polar's privacy policy (https://polar.sh/legal/privacy). Your light/dark theme choice is stored only in your browser. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc.), which may process your IP address in server logs.

Your rights

You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict processing, to data portability, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. Write to info@easyupscale.cz. If you believe we handle your data unlawfully, you can lodge a complaint with the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection (https://uoou.gov.cz) or the supervisory authority in your country.

Website visits

The website counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics (Cloudflare, Inc., USA). The service works without cookies and without tracking individual visitors: it records only summary data (the page visited, where the visitor came from, country, device type and browser). The data are not used for advertising and are not sold. The app itself does not measure any usage.
